JN Bentley are currently looking for a Lead SCADA Engineer to join our battery energy storage system (BESS) team. You will provide subject matter expertise and collaborate with an experienced and knowledgeable team of engineers and designers.
You'll be Joining JN Bentley in a record year for the business, that’s continuing to make strides with our ever-growing workload across the UK with turnover rising over £400m.
As a Lead SCADA Engineer typical duties and responsibilities will include:
* Ensure effective communication and operational interfacing of electrical equipment in HV/EHV substation to ensure that a suitable control strategy is implemented.
* Working with the wider electrical team, the lead engineer role is actively involved in setting the communications and control philosophy for the project.
* Identify and ensure design compliance with all relevant standards, legislation, Customer requirements, DNO and National Grid standards and contract specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
Role Requirements:
* Develop a standardised control philosophy.
* Incorporate G99 and Grid Code monitoring within the SCADA systems.
* Liaise with the supply chain to ensure all SCADA interfaces are incorporated.
* Develop generic and project specific I/O schedules communications architecture drawings.
* Understand communications protocols such as Modbus, DNP3 & IEC 61850 and their application.
* Liaise with protection engineers regarding IED’s and control system cabling requirements and contribute to the production of specifications for plant and equipment.
* Review / comment on manufacturers drawings and documents.
* Liaise with BESS Optimisers/Integrators to understand and implement their control and communications requirements.
* Oversee testing and installation of SCADA system (FAT/SAT testing).
* Supervise the work of more junior electrical engineers, providing technical and professional guidance to aid their development.
What you can offer:
* The individual should possess an excellent working knowledge of substation SCADA systems and the relevant associated British and International Standards with a Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems Electrical preferred).
* Demonstrable experience in the design, development and implementation of SCADA systems associated with power systems up to 400kV and knowledge and understanding of HV/EHV substation standards in the UK.
* Ability to both write and understand technical documents relating to all aspects of protection and control systems and manage the various inter-departmental design interfaces.
* Have working knowledge of the role of the designer under the CDM Regulations 2015.
