Job description We are currently recruiting experienced part time support staff to work with Trisha, a lady living in the Wishaw area of North Lanarkshire. This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to develop their already existing support skills and to be involved in helping Trisha enjoy life and engage with her community. A driver with full UK clean current driving license is essential for this post. “I am Trisha, I am fun loving and have a cheeky sense of humour. I have my own flat and car, so being a driver is really important. I love animals, especially cats and horses. I love to be pampered, having my hair or nails done, love going shopping and football I am looking for 2 staff members to join my team who will assist me with medication, prompting personal care, take me out and about in the community most days both walking and in the car, sometimes into Glasgow. I use a wheelchair when I am out and about. I need guidance and support with healthy eating and emotional support. I have poor memory and need lots of reminders, so patience is vital, as well as strong guidance from you ” What I am looking for… Someone who has experience of support work, and drives Someone who is patient and empathic Someone who can motivate and encourage me without being bossy Someone who is not easily offended Someone who doesn't take life to seriously and can have a laugh with me Shifts are 11 hours per day 9am - 8pm, 2 days one week, 1 day the next. This will involve a weekend day 2 weekends in every 4, on a set 4 week rolling rota. There will be the opportunity to do overtime during team holiday times. Main Tasks To provide person centred care and support to the people Support for Ordinary Living wor k for in line with the mission, vision and values of the organisation the support worker role will: Support an individual to live in their own home/ family home and help the individual live the lifestyle they choose. Assist with personal care for example bathing where applicable. Encourage and support people to make life choices. Support individual to safeguard their property/ health & wellbeing/ finances and tak e appropriate action, when necessary, e.g., call NHS 24 or Doctor in case of emergency. Support people to become a valued member of their local community and support an d encourage them to maintain and develop relationships with their friends, their family and their neighbours. Encourage and support people to get involved in social activities. Assist people with domestic tasks such as housework, shopping cooking and cleaning. Treat people with dignity and respect at all times and recognise their rights to make their own choices. Support the individual to meet their outcomes in line with their Outcome based support plan and plan for the future. To work as part as a Self-Directed team, working in a consistent and flexible manne r to support the individual to meet the outcomes outlined in the outcome-based support plan. Adhere to SOL’s policies and procedures to attend all planned meetings / training as requested. Be an ambassador to SOL, safeguarding the positive image and reputation o f the organisation.
