Lathallan Junior School is currently seeking to recruit a Junior School Pupil Support Assistant to
work under the direction and supervision of the Head of Junior School.
The purpose of the role is to:
● enhance and support learning and teaching across the curriculum, promoting
achievement and raising the standard of pupil attainment
● enhance and support the personal development of pupils in relation to their care,
health, wellbeing and safety
● assist with supervision of pupils in class, during transitions and outdoors during breaks
● assist with classroom organisation, administration and preparation of learning resources
We are looking for a candidate with previous experience of engagement with children and
young people who has the enthusiasm and interest to enhance our pupils’ learning experiences.
Core Responsibilities to include:
● Provide academic support across the curriculum for identified pupils and groups; in class
and outside the classroom (including Outdoor Learning, trips and sports fixtures)
● Provide nurture and emotional support to pupils
● Attend to the individual medical needs of pupils, including first aid and the
administration of medicines if required
● Supervision of pupils at lunchtime, during breaks and breakfast club
● Prepare and maintain learning resources and classroom displays under the guidance of
teaching staff
● Encourage an inclusive environment that reflects the school values and promotes
positive relationships
● Contribute to the wider life of the school by supporting whole school events, trips and
co-curricular activities

Qualifications &Training
Essential
● Academic achievement to Nat 4 or 5, Standard Grade or equivalent
● Demonstrate proven oral communication, literacy and numeracy skills
● Completion of mandatory training including child protection, GDPR, Fire Awareness,
and commitment to completion of subsequent training
● Hold an approved first-aid qualification or commit to completing one.
● PVG membership for regulated work with children and/or protected adults or, a
willingness to obtain prior to a formal offer of employment being made

Location: Brotherton Castle, Johnshaven
Hours of work: Lathallan term time only, 25-32.5 hours per week
Salary: £13, to 17, per annum
