Job Summary
Walsall Healthcare Trust is seeking an experienced Consultant Paediatrician to join our team. The successful candidate will work within the Department of Paediatrics and Neonates at Manor Hospital, Walsall, in a substantive capacity.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Provide integrated paediatric services, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness, working closely with other consultants.
2. Lead and manage staff engaged in specialty and related services, promoting excellent communication and liaison skills.
3. Work within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team, participating in paediatric consultant of the week (PCOW) and out-of-hours on-call systems.
4. Support the general paediatric and paediatric respiratory service, as well as additional interests such as palliative care, paediatric ambulatory medicine, HDU, medical education, and safeguarding.
5. Provide prospective cover for colleagues during annual, study, and professional leave, arranging exchange of acute commitments, including on-call duties.
6. Supervise and train junior medical staff, undertaking supervised learning events, and participating in teaching programmes for junior doctors and medical students.

Person Specification
Qualifications
1. MBChB or equivalent degree
2. MRCPCH or equivalent
3. Valid registration and license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC)
4. Evidence of being on GMC Specialist Register for Paediatrics or within six months of admission
5. APLS/EPALS or equivalent provider/instructor status
6. Children Safeguarding Level 3 training
7. Educational/Clinical supervision training
Clinical Experience
1. Broad range of paediatric knowledge and experience at middle grade level or higher
2. One year experience working in paediatric respiratory medicine at middle grade/consultant level
3. Experience of leading children's safeguarding processes
Personal Attributes
1. Understanding of the current NHS environment
2. Excellent team working and leadership skills
