Quantity Surveyor, Landscaping or Groundworks
Salary: £50,000 to £63,000 + Package

The continuing growth of this specialist Landscaping Contractor and the associated expansion of their commercial department means that they are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor with experience in landscaping or groundworks. The company is a Soft and Hard Landscaping Contractor who works with Developers and Main Contractors across London and the South East. This role is central to the organisation and the creation of the company’s award-winning Landscapes. It’s the ideal position for a QS or Estimator with Landscaping or Groundworks experience looking to take the step into a senior managerial position!
The Job:
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will use your professional and proactive approach to maintain an overview of all of the company’s specialist Landscaping Tenders. You will ensure the financial integrity of all projects from Design through Estimating, Procurement and Construction to completion and, importantly, the agreement of the financial account. Together with the senior management team, you will determine the company’s purchasing and sub-contract policies and be central to the negotiation of terms. You will be responsible for the contractual commitments inherent in each project and aware of the Scope of Works and Specifications.
1. Review all tenders in respect to financial management and all contractual risk.
2. Liaise with the Client in respect to Variations, ensure these are communicated and recorded.
3. Control Supplier selection and Sub-Contract packages.
4. Liaise with Clients, as necessary to assist the tender progression and award.
5. Attend Pre and Post Contract meetings with clients as required.
6. Be aware of project scheduling and attend weekly site visits to review progress.
7. Maintain a progress file for each project to evidence and support contract disputes.
8. Assist in the reporting of the CVR, Financial and Contract commitments of each project.
9. Ensure that all costs are correctly captured and allocated to facilitate monthly payment applications.
10. Identify project problems and quickly instigate solutions to mitigate risk.
11. Identify disruptions to projects from external sources and agree contract variation terms with the Client.
12. Liaise closely with the client and “Manage the Client Journey” at all times.
13. Manage the works completion statement, ensure that the final account is fully supported and produce a report on the project performance.
The Person:
You will currently be working in a construction company as a Project Surveyor or QS and you will:
1. Have experience delivering design and build construction contracts.
2. Have a knowledge of Construction Contracts, Variations and agreements together with an understanding of project risk management.
3. Have experience in preparing, submitting and progressing Commercial Landscaping tenders.
4. Be an effective Team Leader with demonstrable Commercial management experience.
5. Have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Be financially literate with experience of managing margins in line with budgets.
7. Have an understanding of the practical, technical, financial and qualitative requirements of a project.
