OCU Group are looking for an experienced Surveyor to join our power team in Reading. A Power Surveyor is responsible for conducting site surveys and assessments related to power projects, such as overhead lines, substations, underground cabling, or renewable energy installations. This role ensures compliance with regulations, optimises design processes, and supports project delivery by providing accurate land and site data. Skills and Experience: Key Accountabilities: Site inspections, providing customer, client and programme office with key technical guidance in the delivery of all connection works. Accessing buildability and feasibility of proposed desktop designed new connection Building accurate quotations for the delivery of SSEN designed new connection projects. Ensuring all requirements are captured - Ascertaining TM requirements Ground types for excavation Network suitability for proposed connections Condition assessment of existing plant Highlight potentially affected customers Providing detailed assumptions to protect the business from potential additional future costs Complying with strict guarantee standard requirements for the permit timescales to complete and return quotations Selecting individual rate items and quantities via tablet based app to produce BOQ Attending site meetings with customers Liaising and updating the planning department with any customer and client requests Attending sites to advise and guide customers on electrical installation requirements (Substations, cut-outs, cables, joints) and ascertain works scope and resource requirement. Contacting and updating customer and client throughout job progression. Manage and prioritise own workload, considering your own objectives and those of the wider team Create, maintain, and enhance working relationships with key contacts across the project Supporting the specification, development and implementation of interventions and enablers to address function relevant issues Key Performance Indicators: Information correctly recorded against each job All site meetings attended and work diary managed Completing quotations within the permitted 5 day timescale Successfully communicating progress and amendments to customer, client and operation team Accurately produced surveys capturing all required information Correct and timely advice given to managers and colleagues Risk principles considered in all work undertaken Work completed within specified timescales or negotiated where necessary Effective relationships built and feedback received Regular review of performance objectives Specific Skills, Experience and Qualifications required: Essential Knowledge Experience within the electrical distribution sector and an understanding of installation construction requirements Experience dealing with medium size construction sites, including experience managing schemes falling under CDM regulations.
