As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Project Engineer / Project Lead to take ownership of custom battery and charger projects, ensuring they are executed efficiently and to the highest standards. This role is central to ensuring structured execution, regulatory compliance, and strong customer alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage multiple projects from concept to production, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards.
* Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, suppliers, and customers, ensuring clear and structured communication.
* Oversee task and resource management using IFS systems, ensuring alignment with project scope, budget, and quality requirements.
* Monitor and actively manage project KPIs, identifying and addressing risks before they impact safety, quality, cost, or delivery.
* Lead structured escalation processes where necessary, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and in alignment with customer expectations.
* Ensure disciplined milestone management, driving structured internal approvals and securing formal customer sign-off before progressing.
* Proactively manage adherence to the agreed supply agreement, ensuring all deliverables align with contract terms and NPI process requirements.
* Own the end-to-end compliance process for each project, ensuring:
* Regulatory standards are identified, applied, and actively maintained throughout development.
* Internal teams are aligned with compliance needs at every stage.
* External certification bodies such as UL are engaged as required.
* Compliance risk assessments, traceability, and certification readiness are proactively managed.
* Ensure adherence to supply agreements, linking all NPI process requirements within IFS for full traceability and accountability.
* Review and coordinate all key documentation, including:
* PPAP, FMEA, HARA, design reviews, and compliance reports
* 2D drawings, CAD models, and electronics documentation
* SPC, Gauge R&R, PFMEA, process control reports
* Quality plans, supplier quality plans, traceability, and simulation reports
* Manage risks and escalations, ensuring structured problem-solving and timely resolution.
* Regularly present project updates to internal teams, senior leadership, and customers, ensuring expectations, timelines, and risks are clearly communicated.
* Occasionally travel to customer and supplier sites for project reviews and issue resolution.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience in managing complex NPI projects, ensuring structured execution, regulatory compliance, and milestone adherence.
* Ability to ensure internal teams follow structured processes, securing customer sign-off at key milestones before advancing to the next phase.
* Strong understanding of documentation management and compliance processes, ensuring structured, high-quality documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to align internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
* Proficient in using IFS or similar ERP/project tracking systems for project control, documentation management, and traceability.
* Confident in handling escalations, ensuring issues are addressed appropriately and proactively through structured decision-making.
* Highly organised and process-driven, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Understanding of compliance and regulatory standards, including the ability to identify and implement project-specific regulatory requirements.
* Willingness to travel occasionally for customer and supplier visits.
