Alexander Steele is working exclusively with an established food manufacturer who, due to growth and product demand is looking to appoint a Customer Technical Manager at their facility in the heart of Essex.

The role:
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Customer Technical Manager will be responsible for the company's Retail Accounts from a technical perspective.
* To manage the customers’ expectations by delivering a plans across Technical, Quality Improvement, Seasonal, and, Supply Chain. All to be agreed upon and signed off by the customer.
* To implement new customer standards as required for the business.
* 100% of customers' specification set to approved, active on the technical library, organise and lead customers specifications with an annual review.
* All raw material specifications written and aligned with the customer specifications and CQM.
* Ensure the quality, safety, and legality of the products being dispatched are meeting customer requirements.
* Attend all benchmarking sessions held by the customer.
* Ensure KPI and customer expectations are met in full by holding quarterly reviews with customers and the outcomes are shared across the business.
* To successfully manage the outcome of all the out of specification results for chemical, micro, quality, isotopes and ensure all the deadlines are met in full.
* Manage Customer site visits whilst being proactive and disciplined in the approach to deliver a successful outcome.
* Ensure all packaging has been designed accurately ensuring the cutter guides have been signed off by all departments, meeting the key legal attributes, and no mistakes are made at time of launch.
* Ensure that a full and concise understanding of the customer and individual depot requirements are understood and adhered to at all times.
* Assist in the development of NPD, product launches, and new packaging designs and concepts.
* With the assistance of the TD, you will undertake the responsibility for the specification team by effective management control.
Experience and skills required:
* At least 3 years experience working in Customer Technical role and experience working with Major UK retailers (Tesco, M&S, JS etc.)
* A degree in Food Science or equivalent.
* The ability to manage projects & improve processes
* Experienced in food safety and quality management systems including HACCP, and complaint handling.
* Can communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
