Environmental / Sustainability Manager - Infrastructure (Sellafield)
The Role
We are looking to further enhance our environmental / sustainability expertise within our Infrastructure division, with a role now active based on our Sellafield framework.
This role is key in our operations at Sellafield and an excellent opportunity that offers development opportunities and the chance to shape and lead the direction on a significant framework.
The successful candidate will become a key part of the framework delivery team and will be supported by the wider SRM Sustainability team, who will offer support and guidance where needed.
This is a long-term programme of works and we're keen to invest in someone, therefore we want to hear from individuals with experience in environmental / sustainability management at all levels.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the role are:
1. Managing the site to ensure compliance with legal obligations
2. Implementation of our ISO14001 management processes on site.
3. Championing environmental management and sustainability on site
4. Contributing to design & specification reviews to ensure that they deliver the necessary performance required by both company and client requirements
5. Advising on design options to improve sustainability performance - e.g. carbon and waste reduction
6. Ensuring that procurement documentation reflects the project sustainability requirements
7. Auditing project compliance to legal requirements and targets
8. Training of subcontractors on environmental issues
9. Reviewing project performance, identifying and addressing areas of improvement
10. Sharing best practice and innovation to the wider business
11. Liaising with clients and other stakeholders
12. Providing Clients with regular reports against the project deliverables
Skills and Qualifications
We are keen to hear from people with all levels of experience, and willing to invest in and train the right individual, however desirable skills for this role would include:
1. Understanding of environmental risks and management on Construction or Civil Engineering projects
2. Experience of implementation and management of ISO14001 certified management systems on construction projects
3. Understanding of environmental assessments (BREEAM, WELL, LEED, NABERS etc.)
4. Waste reduction and management on construction sites
5. Whole life carbon reduction, monitoring & reporting
6. Experience of training and upskilling construction project staff
7. Experience of embedding environmental / sustainability requirements into design and procurement information
8. A knowledge of managing environmental impact on projects within a nuclear licensed/highly regulated site
Our Sellafield framework
We have been appointed by the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) as key delivery partner on a 17-year civils construction framework at the Sellafield former nuclear power plant in Cumbria, worth some £1bn.
Sellafield is Europe's largest nuclear site, covering 265 hectares and comprising more than 200 nuclear facilities and more than 1,000 buildings.
This role will be based in Sellafield but we can offer hybrid working and it comes with the opportunity to grow and develop in the future as the framework progresses.
