Marsden Medical Group has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join our team for 18 hours per week (working 3 days, Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the wider practice team.
Our Medical Secretaries play a vital role in supporting our doctors and teams, bringing their skills and professionalism into the team, speaking to patients on the telephone, typing clinical letters amongst many other essential tasks. The life of a Medical Secretary is varied, interesting and highly valued.
In this post, you will join a team who are looking for someone with audio typing experience. The individual should also possess strong organisational skills, good time management, and excellent verbal and written communication.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a team that provides a secretarial and administrative service to the wider team which will involve, but not exclusively be limited to:
1. Typing letters
2. Answering patient queries by phone or email
3. Cancelling and reinstating appointments as necessary
4. Booking appointments for patients and coordinating services
5. Attending and minuting meetings
6. Reports

Job responsibilities
Job Title: Medical Secretary 18 hours per week
JOB PURPOSE: To ensure that all secretarial duties are carried out efficiently, and to assist the Partnership in providing a high-quality service.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Audio typing of practice documents
2. To attend meetings when required to take shorthand notes.
3. To confer with hospital secretaries concerning the expedition of appointments, discharge letters, and results of investigations.
4. To answer queries from hospital departments.
5. Direct patients to appropriate services
6. To assist with patients' telephone/personal enquiries regarding hospital appointments, referrals, etc.
7. To expedite information on hospital appointments, laboratory, and X-Ray results, noting records and informing patients of outcomes.
ADMINISTRATION
1. Audio typing of referral letters.
2. Type up Reports/minutes of meetings.
3. Online access applications

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
1. To have a working knowledge of all aspects of the systems necessary to the job.
2. To ensure the security policy is adhered to.
HEALTH AND SAFETY

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Grade C or above equivalent in English
Experience
* Worked for a minimum of 2 years in a secretarial role within general practice.
* Working with multidisciplinary teams
* Worked for a minimum of 2 years in a secretarial role within primary or secondary care.
