THE ROLE
We are currently seeking a Financial Accounting Associate to join our Group Finance Department. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Reporting Accountant, the Financial Accounting Associate will be responsible for assisting in the production of month-end and year-end activities. The role will involve key responsibilities related to accruals, prepayments, Capital Expenditure, bank reconciliations, treasury activities, timesheets, and employee expenses.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Support the month-end process by preparing month-end accounting entries, including accruals and prepayments.
* Maintain balance sheet accounts with supporting documentation and ensure appropriate processes and controls are in place.
* Assist the accounting team with reporting, reconciliations, and analysis as required.
* Perform daily bank reconciliations and supplementary cash analysis.
* Support with cashflow forecasting and treasury activities to help effectively manage Group cashflow.
* Manage all CAPEX accounting, including maintaining the Asset Register, posting depreciation journals, reviewing monthly additions, and managing the Assets Under Construction accounts.
* Manage the contractor accruals process and support review of hours spent versus invoiced.
* Process employee expense data for posting through to the system and payment.
* Perform regular expense reviews to ensure VAT is recorded and claimed correctly and to validate that expenses are being claimed in line with company policies.
* Manage the weekly timesheet compliance process to ensure sufficient control and completeness.
* Work with the Senior Commercial Reporting Accountant in collecting and processing monthly data to support reporting and analysis, as well as production of monthly department reports.
* Assist as required with preparing the year-end analysis and information gathering, with ongoing support through the year-end audit.
* Project Work as needed to support Group Finance objectives.
SKILLS REQUIRED
ESSENTIAL:
* Studying towards a professional accounting qualification - CIMA, ACCA, ACA
* Experience in managing accruals and prepayments
* Experience in producing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
* Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
* Excellent Excel skills, ability to work efficiently with data using formulas and pivot tables
DESIRABLE:
* Previous experience in dealing with multi-entity and multi-currency accounts
* SME experience
* D365 system experience
