Job Description
I am working with one of the residential developers who is looking to strengthen the team with a planning manager for their south west office in Bristol.
You will report directly to the group planning director but work autonomously on managing existing planning applications through outlined and detailed consents.
You will be an experienced town planner who has experience of managing and running planning applications for house builders and strategic land. You will ideally be 5 years + post-graduation and be looking for the next step in your career or you will be working in planning consultancy and looking to make the move to the client side.
Ideally, you will have worked for either a house builder/residential developer, town planning consultancy or a strategic land promotion company where you would have played a key and important role in managing complex town planning applications.
The client is in a mature and grown-up environment with a low head count where everyone just gets on with their job. They offer flexibility in working arrangements but it's expected you would be in the office for meetings 2-3 days a week.
If you are looking for a role with a progressive and flexible business with a passionate and success-focused team then this is the dream job for you.
Responsibilities
1. Managing current and future planning applications.
2. The appointment and coordination of external planning consultants to oversee workloads on applications and appeals.
3. Support the land buying team on appraisals on future land purchases.

5. Keep abreast and current on planning policy changes or updates in local authorities.
Key Requirements
1. Degree qualified (ideally property related) with MRTPI accreditation.
2. Minimum of 4 years post-grad experience and you must have a background of managing planning applications as the lead consultant.
3. Experienced town planner who has a detailed understanding of managing complex planning applications and appeals.
4. Operated and worked in Bristol, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and Wales.
5. Good understanding of planning and project managing large strategic sites.
6. Able to work autonomously and comfortable taking the lead on projects rather than being in the background.
7. Dynamic and ambitious.
