The Centre for Research and Evidence on Security Threats (CREST) is seeking a Marketing Designer with an eye for design to help translate and market cutting-edge research into impactful, visually appealing materials.
Since its founding in 2015, CREST has been at the forefront of UK research on security threats. Based within the Department of Psychology at Lancaster University, funded by the Home Office, CREST is an interdisciplinary research centre specialising in behavioural and social science research on security threats.
A key focus of CREST’s work is ensuring that research findings are not only rigorous but also accessible and practical. To achieve this, CREST produces a variety of resources, including reports, guides, and articles. As a Marketing Designer, you will play a vital role in creating and refining these resources, reporting directly to the Director of Communications.
Your primary responsibilities include:
1. Template design and layout, using Adobe InDesign to input and edit content into pre-existing templates.
2. Ensuring designs are polished and adhere to our style guidelines.
3. Adjusting text layouts and resolving formatting issues.
4. Ensuring documents are print- and web-ready.
5. Marketing resources by putting together the CREST newsletter, updating webpages, and crafting social media posts.
6. Creative opportunities for your own design, including helping with the design and layout of CREST's bi-annual magazine, CSR.
You will work alongside a small, highly motivated, and dynamic team, so it's essential to be self-driven and manage your workload efficiently to meet deadlines, particularly during busy periods. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is essential. Experience of using other Adobe software like Illustrator and Photoshop to create or adjust artwork would be a strong advantage but not essential as training and support will be provided.
Hybrid remote working is available, provided you can commute to Lancaster University on agreed mandatory office days, typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Flexibility is required, as these days may occasionally change. You can also choose to work entirely on campus.
If you’re excited by the opportunity to combine design and digital skills to support impactful research, we’d love to hear from you!
While the post is initially for 6 months, there may be an opportunity to extend this contract if funding becomes available.
Informal enquiries are welcome and should be addressed to CREST’s Director of Communications, Rebecca Stevens email: b.stevens@lancaster.ac.uk
We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
