The Mechanical Designer is responsible for designing structural and integrated systems solutions for test rigs.
The designer shall:
* Interpret Test Requirements into design solutions.
* Work with control, gauging, electrical, and fluid mechanical engineers to understand and implement solutions in the 3D model.
* Present concept preliminary and final design solutions in design reviews.
* Work with the client to ensure validation of requirements.
* Work with suppliers to ensure parts designed are manufactured correctly.
* Work with commissioning teams to ensure parts received are properly fitted.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provision of key design support to the allocated project, providing engineering expertise, creation/modification of CATIA models and drawings as required, in line with Airbus Fuel and Landing Gear Test Facility Design Process.
* Provide guidance, constructive feedback, and checking support to Design team as requested.
* Maintain a professional manner and develop the image of KDC.
* Work to required quality and technical standards within reasonable pre-determined timescales.
* Report to Team Lead and Project Manager any out-of-scope work that is required within the design project and record/log this as directed.
* Record/log any unexpected software or hardware deficiencies that affect correct performance of the design tasks.
* Customer Liaison on a technical basis for current Projects when directed by Team Lead.
* CATIA V5.
* Advanced design capability and problem-solving skills with minimal supervision in a varied design environment for a minimum of 6 years (e.g., not 10 years’ experience designing brackets only).
* Good engineering design experience across aircraft design disciplines such as structures design, systems integration, electrical systems, and fluid mechanical systems.
* Previous experience of Airbus aircraft systems is highly desirable.
