As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for all of the engineering design stages of each project. From proposal to completion, you will own the entire scope of work, manage all client relationships including liaising with external stakeholders and take responsibility for the overall success of multiple projects. You will support multiple teams across the business, effectively communicating technical advice to assist where required throughout the development process. You will be required to fully review all engineering drawings required for residential development sites.
Other key duties will include:
* Managing technical consents and ensuring approvals align with business requirements.
* Managing all engineering designs.
* Identifying any constraints or risks.
* Carrying out due diligence on designs to ensure they are commercially efficient and compliant with both technical and Cala standards.
* Managing all development service requirements and appointing utility contractors.
* Ensuring appropriate approvals and wayleaves are progressed.
* Supporting groundworker tenders and ensuring all allowances are made within the scope.
* Managing internal stakeholders to successfully deliver engineering requirements on time.
* Managing all engineering risks and input into CDM, risk register and temporary works register. Appointing external engineering and associated development consultants. Assisting and developing those around you as we pride ourselves on developing early talent.
About You
Essential attributes, knowledge and experience:
* Experience of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD skills are essential.
* Experience in housebuilding is preferable from an office or site background.
* Knowledge in both civil engineering and utilities; structural engineering would also be preferable.
* Ideally, you will hold a BSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
* Strong communication skills are key to effectively communicate clear and concise information and keep your colleagues up to date.
* A keen interest and knowledge of industry innovations and engineering solutions.
* A full understanding of managing utility service companies, obtaining quotes for new supplies and diversions is a prerequisite for this role.
* Good understanding of the Local Highway Authority processes with regard to highway works and adoptions, and preferably have an existing relationship with local engineers in the highways and drainage departments.
