Experis are working alongside a government client seeking a Safety Manager within the Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the implementation of the Safety Management System across the business.
Develop Safety Cases and safety assessments, conducting internal audits of safety artefacts.
Ensure all changes to products, systems, and services (PSS) have undergone due safety process and governance.
Support the ongoing development and review of safety performance, ensuring effective safety measures at various levels.
Lead post-incident investigations and analysis, implementing corrective actions.
Review and enhance safety policies and processes, ensuring key stakeholders understand their safety obligations.
Act as a focal point for safety management, engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to Safety Boards and Safety Management Review Panels, ensuring compliance with safety targets and criteria.
Stay up to date with safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
Formal qualifications in Safety Management.
Experience in developing Safety Cases using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claim, Argument, Evidence (CAE) methodology in line with Defence Standard 00-056.
Proven experience in hazard log management within a business, military, or production environment.
Hands-on experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to investigate incidents.
Experience leading Safety Panels or Committees.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels, from subject matter experts to senior management.
A proactive approach to safety culture development and continuous improvement.
Desirable
Working knowledge of Def Stan 00-056 highly desirable
Experience of embedding Safety Management Systems within the Defence or Maritime Industries
