Job Summary
We are looking for someone with experience of working with children and young people in community settings to work within our team. The role will include both clinical and administrative duties.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our well-established and well-staffed team providing high quality services to children and young people age 0 to 18 within a variety of community settings including special and mainstream school, at home and at community sites as well as at the purpose built Hackney Ark.
These consist of organising, planning and helping to run intervention groups, carrying out one to one treatment sessions (under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist) to maximise children and young people's independence and participation. This includes setting up equipment within both homes and schools to enable children to access activities as safely and independently as possible.
The role will also involve assisting the service with the processing of new referrals, dealing with enquiries and managing the department resources and ordering system.
Main Duties Include
* The post holder will be based part of the week in a Special School for Autistic children and young people under the supervision of an OT, with the role of facilitating intervention groups and completing therapy intervention, creating resources, and supporting the effective running of the school OT team.
* The post holder will independently manage and treat a caseload with a focus on children with Autism, with guidance from a registered Occupational Therapist. This includes developing and implementing treatment programmes, independently writing summaries and records as required in discussion with a Registered Occupational Therapist.
* The post holder will use their initiative and clinical experience to adapt treatment programs and create therapy resources, in response to changes in the child's physical / sensory motor skill, environment, school requirements or parental expectations.
* The post holder will carry out assessments of children's home environment and equipment needs with guidance from a registered occupational therapist. This will includes completing necessary paperwork to order non-complex equipment and non-complex adaptations.
* The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and will have a good understanding of the OT role.
* The post holder will carry out a range of administration duties including processing new referrals, booking parents / schools into workshops, and training sessions and organising resources.
