Practice Development Nurse (Gynaecology)

The Practice Development Nurse within the Gynaecology team is a proactive nursing leader, teacher and role model, who leads on the development of excellence in practice education and policy across the specialty.
Prioritising and planning workload to include working in clinical practice to maintain professional clinical skills, knowledge, and competence and ensure effective understanding of the contemporary clinical practice context. Act as an expert professional resource for the multi-professional team supporting Gynaecology colleagues.
The PDN will lead in the development and advancement of clinical practice, emphasising the implementation of evidence-based knowledge leading to safe care for our patients.
Proactively seeking feedback on patient and public experience and act on recommendations as required.
Ensure the highest standards of patient care (metrics/audits/research/ benchmarking data) are in place and reviewed accordingly. Facilitate the development of clear action plans to address any care deficiencies and ensure agreed actions are implemented and evaluated.
The PDN will be a visible part of the team, working alongside clinical teams to ensure high standards are maintained.
Main duties of the job
There has never been a more exciting time to join our Reproductive Health team as we expand our service. We are offering this exciting, challenging and rewarding PDN post.
The post holder will work closely with the Gynae QRS team, Matron, Ward leaders and Lead Nurse for Reproductive Health. The PDN will be a strong clinical leader, easily identifiable, highly visible and accessible to all staff working within Gynaecology. He/she will have a particular responsibility to develop and maintain SOPs, policies and role development packages and ensure that the fundamentals of nursing care are met within the specialty. Striving to improve clinical standards and patient safety with a 'can-do' attitude with a drive to deliver results.

Training and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse/AHP
* Teaching & Assessing Qualification
* Knowledge and competency in MS Office
Experience
* Experienced in acute care settings at band 5 and 6
* Experienced practice supervisor and assessor with evidence of providing staff and students with feedback on their individual performance
* Experience of change management
* Ability to convey sensitive information in an empathetic manner to students/learners, patients, relatives/carers and staff
* Experience in chairing meetings with peer groups

* Ability to receive, interpret and communicate complex data, which require analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options
* Demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of professional nursing priorities at different levels
