Job Description

Technical Support Overview
The JDP Technical Support department offers a complimentary service to JDP customers, which is unique among drainage and civils merchants in the United Kingdom. As part of this service, the Technical Support team offers advice and assistance for a multitude of drainage projects, including drainage take-offs, providing calculations and full system designs. We work closely with our colleagues and customers to come up with the most cost-effective, efficient solution for each individual scheme.
The Trainee Role
Initially, the role comprises shadowing and assisting the technical support team while actively developing your own knowledge of the industry. The aim is to progress onto producing drainage take-offs independently. This position relies upon your willingness to learn and retain a vast amount of information. This is a development position with the intention of progressing to an Assistant within the department after roughly 18-24 months; depending on the progression of the individual, this may be achieved sooner. It is expected that the first 6 months of a Trainee role will be based around understanding processes, compliance and legislation, product learning, and shadowing Assistants and Technicians. This role will include training on different aspects of the business, such as handling products within the branch and understanding the sales process from manufacturer to customer. We look to use all tools available to help develop a career within the industry.
Qualifications
Desirable: General understanding of AutoCAD. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Analytical and problem-solving skills would be an advantage.
Required: A level or equivalent, Math, English, Science - Grade A-C.
Preferred: Driving License.
No prior industry knowledge necessary – full training will be given on-site.
This role could suit somebody who has recently left education or who has been in a technical role already and is looking to develop.
