This Recycling Business Manager role has full responsibility for developing the recycling business strategy and deliver of this strategy, across the BAL Business. The incumbent will liaise with the Operations and Commercial teams across the business to ensure the effectiveness of the strategy and to deliver results. The role will require exploration into new areas for the business, liaising and creating strategic partnerships to draw on AI’s strength and others opportunities to deliver the strategy. The role reports to the Managing Director. Key Metrics Grow CE volumes minimum, YR1 500kt, Yr2 1mt, ambition to continue to significantly grow volumes YoY. Presentation of Recycling strategy for BAL. Leverage Brett complete supply chain, expanding as appropriate, to achieve the goal. Ensure all relevant legislation is complied with by all parties in supply chain. Audit internally and externally to demonstrate compliance. Qualifications & Experience Proven experience in a senior leadership role within the UK recycling, aggregates, construction materials, or waste management industries. Comprehensive understanding of UK environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks (e.g. EA permitting, Duty of Care, Waste Framework Directive). Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies aligned with UK market trends and sustainability goals. Track record of managing supply chains within the UK and delivering efficiencies across commercial and operational functions. Experience leading CAPEX projects in line with UK planning, environmental and safety regulations. Familiarity with ISO 14001, 9001, and 45001 management systems. Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation (e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act, CDM Regulations). Skills & Competencies Strong commercial acumen and understanding of UK recycling market dynamics, customer needs, and regulatory drivers. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build strategic relationships across the sector - including with regulators, local authorities, suppliers, and customers. Confident in presenting and influencing at Board level and externally. Strategic thinker with the ability to identify growth opportunities in line with government net-zero and circular economy targets. Data-driven and analytical with experience using performance metrics to drive continuous improvement. Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver complex initiatives on time and within budget.
