We are seeking to recruit an exceptional member of our team into the newly created role of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant who will contribute to the support and inclusion of our Looked After Children (LAC). The successful candidate would report directly to our Assistant Headteacher/SENDCo as the Designated Teacher for Looked After Children.
Within the role, the successful candidate would work within the wider SEND Team and Learning Support Unit (LSU), alongside working in direct relation with our SENDCo as the SLT lead. As a school of 850+ boys, we currently have between 10-12 LAC students in our care. This role would largely focus around the daily check-ins and additional pastoral care that some of our LAC students have.
The successful candidate becomes the champion for these students with closer tracking and support. Largely, with external meetings falling within the school teaching day, this role would upskill and empower the successful candidate to represent the school voice in scheduled meetings around the child, and would require communication and actions between our Designated Teacher and yourself to ensure the school and our staff meet the needs of the child.
This role would place you centrally to a team of Heads of Year, Assistant Heads of Year, Behaviour Mentors, our School Counsellor and a wider Pastoral Support and SEND Support Staff. The wider needs of our student cohorts are set to grow in our feeder primary cohorts, so we believe in investing in support to remove any barriers to student success. This role will place you largely in meetings, supervising our LSU and may require some class-based support as and when needed.
Our boys are incredibly warm, have excellent manners and are true representatives of our 3Rs of respect, responsibility and readiness to aim high in all that they do. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, to take a lead role in providing student-centred support whilst working closely with our key families and external agencies. This role is key to the team around the child.
If you think you have the experience and skills we are looking for, we would like to hear from you.
