Brief Description
The role
We have exciting opportunities within Network Rail High Speed for Telecoms & Signalling Control System Engineers.
The Telecoms and Signalling Control Systems (TCS) team members are highly skilled system specialists which make them a vital team in maintaining a safe and reliable railway. The team fix and maintain all the Operational Telecom & Signalling Control Systems on NRHS. They are a fundamental team of system engineers available 24/7 to respond to service effecting faults and ensuring that we can run and maintain a safe, reliable railway.
The TCS team fix and maintain the following systems: VCS, EMMIS, RCCS, ITCS, DTN, LAN, GSM-R, Fibre network (FON), SCADA, RF propagation, LME ,VTS.
The TCS team are responsible for maintaining various equipment including PLC's, switches, and SCADA monitoring equipment,
Some key accountabilities are as follows:
·1.Assist with investigations into safety, system and infrastructure related failures by supporting the Signaling & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer and the Assistant Signaling & Telecoms Maintenance Engineer.
2.Review system failures to ensure data is completed and actions are closed in accordance with Network Rail High Speed standards.
3.Undertake review of systems asset data for maintenance andfaulting activities and make recommendations to address anomalies.
4.Support the maintenance delivery team in the event of a wrong side failure, as directed.
5.Monitor system performance and reliability.
6.Carry out system maintenance, preventative & corrective as defined by Network Rail High Speed standards and in line with manufacturer guidelines.
7.Assist in the development and delivery of system improvements and support with the delivery of key projects.
8.Contribute to your own development and that of others.
9.Adhere to company policies and procedures.
10.Prepare specifications and requisition for materials.
11.Manage the preparation of work and resource specifications, method statements and plans.
12.Provide technical support and guidance.
13.Manage processes and systems for the calibration and certification of tools and equipment.

The person
So, who are we looking for? If you can answer ‘yes' to the following questions, then we look forward to receiving your application.
Do you have:
·At least 2 years experience of working in a technical environment and performing fault finding?
·HNC/HND qualification in relevant subject or relevant experience
·Experience in preventative and corrective maintenance, processes, and techniques
·Knowledge of safety and compliance processes
·Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
·Knowledge of operational railway environment
·Hold and retain the competencies relevant to this post and required by business need
·Failure/incident management and rectification techniques
·Knowledge of other functional disciplines
·Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisational skills
·Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
·Able to coach, influence and develop others
Desirable
·Incorporated Engineer
·Membership of professional body
·Project management qualification and project management experience
Although it isn't essential, it would be helpful if you were an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) and held a membership of a professional body - and if you also have project management experience (or a qualification) – even better!
