Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated paediatrician (ST6 or above) with an interest in Paediatrics haematology and Oncology diseases to join Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Childrens Hospital, as a Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Fellow for a period of 12 months commencing September 2025. This post would be suitable for a trainee requesting an Out of Programme Pause from training who would like to train in the care of children and young people with haematological or oncological conditions. They will gain experience and develop clinical skills in paediatric haematological and oncological conditions that could contribute to SPIN competencies. Main duties of the job The Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Fellows role will include: Providing the day-to-day care of the paediatric and young adult haematology and oncology inpatients. They will be supported in this by the consultants, the trainee doctors, the advanced clinical practitioners and a Trust grade doctor for in the in-patient unit. They will see patients attending acutely to the day unit supported by the advanced clinical practitioners and the trainee doctors. They will participate in the clinics and day care service supported by consultants and two other speciality doctors They will participate in the multi-professional paediatric haematology and oncology clinical governance programmes. The appointee will participate in the Childrens Hospital Resident doctor on call rota at HST level which will involve looking after general paediatric and/or paediatric specialty patients. This post is for a 12-month period from September 2025. The role suits trainees who are: Motivated to learn about all aspects of caring for children and young people with haematological and oncological conditions. Wish to apply for (or to complete if already commenced) the RCPCH Special Interest Module in this area.
