Role Overview
The Technical Manager - Thermoforming is responsible for leading and directing the Thermoforming technical teams, overseeing all technical activities, maintenance systems, and project management. The role demands strong leadership, process optimization skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include managing maintenance systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and driving productivity improvements.
Responsibilities
* Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to the Thermoforming technical teams, including process technicians and engineers, set-up and tool prep management.
* Maintenance Systems: Oversee all Maintenance systems, direct assigned personnel and daily responsibilities.
* Technical Activities: Oversee all Thermoforming technical activities, direct assigned personnel and daily responsibilities.
* Preventative Maintenance: Ensure robust preventative & predictive maintenance programs are in place for all Thermoformers working in concert with the Maintenance Manager.
* Productivity Improvement: Optimize Thermoforming technical teams to ensure sustained continuous improvement of OEE.
* Ownership of Equipment: Provides ownership of all thermoformers and direct thermoforming support equipment.
* Continuous Improvement: Support Lacerta Production System (LPS) to establish and drive a culture of continuous improvement and sharing of best practices.
* Project Management: Provide Project Management and create team accountability for improvement projects.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and SQF regulations, ensuring all required reporting is up-to-date and in good standing.
* Support Departments: Provide support to Production, EHS, Quality, Scheduling/Planning, Continuous Improvement, and NPD departments.
* Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot processes and equipment and perform root cause analysis.
* New Equipment and Systems: Assist in specifying and identifying new equipment and systems.
* SQF/ISO Compliance: Ensure compliance with SQF/ISO requirements.
* Performance Goals: Achieve performance goals such as 85% TF OEE - Maintenance & Process Downtime Reduction segments and achieve 5M pieces/day.
Qualifications
* Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.
* Certification: Six Sigma or Lean Certification Preferred.
* Experience: 8-10 years’ experience managing thermoforming technical teams & engineering, supporting a fast-paced, growth-oriented manufacturing environment; experience in food manufacturing or packaging preferred.
* Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of Environment and OSHA regulations.
* Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills; proven interpersonal communication skills.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Proven advanced problem-solving skills.
* Team Engagement: Significant experience in the hiring, development, and engagement of staff and team members.
* Team-Based Organizations: Experience in developing team-based organizations, lean manufacturing, etc.
* Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills.
* Technical Proficiency: Must be able to quickly and efficiently learn new systems and software to automate and analyze information.
* Organizational Skills: Excellent prioritization and organization skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $93,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
