Career Development Officer – Permanent – Glasgow – Competitive package

This position is responsible for career development management of deck officers. Effectively manage a “hire to retire” process with key milestone dates for officers (promotion, study leave, and performance).
You will also ensure a pipeline of competent personnel is promoted and developed in accordance with the requirements of the fleet.
Responsibilities include:
1. Provide mentorship, guidance, and direction to help the officers reach their full potential.
2. Maintain and monitor records of appraisals, recommendations, rank time, and promotion status to provide a pipeline of promotable officers.
3. Actively engage with seafarers through calls, conferences, ship, and training centre visits.
4. Attend foreign conferences as directed by the line manager.
5. Drive improvements in seafarer appraisal standards and provide feedback to appraisers.
6. Provide officer promotion projections to management and Marine HR to ensure the fleet meets officer manpower requirements.
7. Schedule promotion interviews for officers.
8. Manage the onshore development programme and act as the direct reporting line for those attending the programme.
9. Integrate newly qualified cadets into the officer pool.
Experience Required:
1. Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
2. Ability to engage with junior and senior officers regarding career development.
3. Ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
4. Fully proficient in Microsoft Applications.
5. Excellent communication skills, comfortable engaging with a diverse workforce.
6. Familiar with industry regulations and operation of LNG or Tankers preferred.
7. Seagoing experience is highly desirable (any vessel background) or experience in the RN also considered.
8. Human resource/Crewing/training experience is also acceptable.
