The Medical Manager (MM) role is a scientific role within the Medical Affairs team who works under general direction and supervision of the Head of Medical Affairs, UK and ROI to implement the medical plan and act as a medical science expert spending 70% of their time in the office and 30% in the field. The purpose of Medical Affairs is to provide and gather scientific insights to/from internal and external stakeholders, and generate data that translates into clear, compelling and strategic scientific exchange and medical education programs. These will impact recommendations, guidelines and medical practice in order to have a positive impact on health. The role interfaces with other functions within Medical Affairs and across the organisation in Commercial teams, Regulatory, Health Economics and other cross functional teams to ensure collaborative connectivity with these key stakeholders, and a focused medical approach to supporting country and regional business objectives. The MMMM will contribute to the implementation of objectives by supporting development and execution the medical strategy for one or more products within a specified portfolio. The MM will contribute to the development of the medical plan and be responsible executing the assigned sections of it by leading project teams and coaching where needed. The MMMM will be responsible for external engagement, including identifying and developing relationships with key external medical experts in the designated therapeutic or geographic area, coordinating advisory boards, medical education programs and scientific communications. This will also include working to present data or preparing material for national and board meetings, for example, NITAG and UKHSA exchanges. The MM will help develop the scientific narrative related to a product and/or therapy area and gain actionable external insights on this via scientific exchange to identify knowledge gaps in the therapy area, and conduct delegated activities required to partner with stakeholders to understand and/or generate real world evidence. The MM will also look after a regional area, to build on relationships with the KOLs, HCOs, patient associations, commissioning boards, NITAGs and regional/local conferences. The MM will also support in conference and publication planning. The MM will work collaboratively with the commercial team on material and activities development and will complete review of materials and activities to ensure they are Code compliant. The MM will be an expert in the ABPI Code, and will be a signatory with the ABPI, either as a final signatory or AQP where appropriate. The MM will perform other delegated tasks within the area of Medical Affairs in line with the company’s vision and strategic imperatives, including ad hoc projects. Playing a major role in the Medical Affairs team a high degree of proactivity is required, both within Medical Affairs and the broader organisation, demonstrated by actively contributing to medical activities within projects and cross-functional teams in the delivery of process improvements and brand associated projects. Flexibility in the role is expected in order to support the broader cross-functional objectives, these may change where needed. Responsibilities include:- Develop and maintain in-depth medical science expertise for designated disease area and products, including analysis of current literature, opinion, and recommendations. Be a proactive and strategic member of designated brand/business cross-functional teams. Provision of pro-active and reactive medical science expertise at different levels in the field for to submissions and presentations in one to one and group settings to Public Health Officials and HCPs (including doctors, nurses and pharmacists) local and global government authorities, where relevant, to positively influence medical practice, achieve registration and/or funding of Seqirus products. Work with marketing and other relevant staff to contribute to brand strategies and supporting materials for designated products in local and global markets (as required). Provision of medical and clinical support to brand team in product launches, issues management, competitor complaints and recall situations. Build and maintain strong relationships with Seqirus colleagues and relevant medical staff in partner companies to ensure mutual sharing of key product information, issues management and competitive strategies. Contribute to development and execution of medical plan, departmental and cross-functional projects, issues management. Initiate and/or lead designated departmental and functional and/or cross functional projects. Identify issues and collaborate to resolve. Manage the review and approval process for funding of study research proposals from external investigators as required. Provide input into or lead medical education projects for HCPs at different levels in the field depending on the strategic needs. Act as a medical science expert in a range of circumstances e.g. Advisory Boards, seminars, conferences, calls on HCPs etc. Deliver presentations to HCPs and KOLs on Seqirus products as part of education-provision. Attend relevant conferences and seminars to maintain currency of knowledge and to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and colleagues. Liaise with Medical and Scientific Community: Provide a point of contact for scientific interaction between external experts / HCP’s and Seqirus. Interact responsibly and within MA guidelines with targeted health care professionals, professional associations, health consumer organisations and other key stakeholders. Assist with requests for scientific and medical information in a comprehensive, timely and customer focused manner. Lead or contribute to scientific Advisory Board meetings to gain critical insights and expert input on key strategic questions. Represent Seqirus at Scientific and Medical symposia. Contribute to and support development of Seqirus sponsored educational programs. Facilitate consideration of proposals for collaborative and investigator-initiated studies; Contribute to publication plans including support for development and preparation of publications and presentations at UK medical & scientific meetings. Contribute to assessment of clinical gaps that would support quality use of current medicines and/or facilitate the development of new therapeutic agents/indications. Develop KoL engagement plans and engage in scientific exchange. Facilitate speaker development and involvement. Track communications with KOLs in appropriate systems. Review and approve impactful promotional and educational materials to ensure Code compliance. Provide alternative strategies as appropriate. Prepare promotional challenges and responses as required. Work closely with Medical, Sales and Marketing to develop or improve processes to ensure regulatory and Code of Conduct compliance. Qualifications, skills and Competencies: - A Pharmacy degree with complementary experience in the pharmaceutical/ biotechnology/healthcare industry; or medical degree. The latter two should have an active UK registration and be eligible to be an ABPI final signatory without the needs for further examinations or assessments. 2 years’ medical affairs or healthcare experience with specific medical science knowledge and experience and/or medical degree in relevant field.
