An exciting opportunity for a data governance officer to join our digital business and enablement team. The post holder will support the wider remit of the digital business and enablement team, working collaboratively with teams across the organisation to identify, mitigate and manage data risks.
The post holder will work to support the council to manage digital records, with a focus on data quality and work closely with colleagues within Customers, IT and digital to promote seamless service to staff.
The post holder will provide advice and support for the development and implementation of projects from a data management perspective.
To provide effective support to the digital business and enablement team in delivering the council’s data management approach including identifying, mitigating and managing data risks.
To harness data-informed, digital opportunities to support delivery of the customer and digital strategy.
Key corporate accountabilities
* Work collaboratively and support other colleagues (as required) to deliver Team Plans, Corporate Plan.
* Take a collaborative approach to delivering data and governance support across teams, supporting colleagues to deliver positive outcomes beyond traditional service boundaries where required and directed by encouraging the sharing of knowledge, experience and resources across teams in the council.
* Contribute and support the development and delivery of the Council’s strategies and policies with a focus on digital and data strategies.
* Work on cross-cutting corporate issues/projects as required.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across the council to promote a culture of continuous improvement, good governance and data management.
* Promote an open and supportive culture which maximizes the potential of employees across the council and encourages inclusivity, innovation and high performance.
* Lead on work relating to master data management, metadata management and digital data quality.
* Work with stakeholders – including service managers and system administrators - to identify, mitigate and manage data risks and data quality issues. This includes drafting and delivery of reports and presentations on these subjects.
* Support the council in complying with the Code of Practice on the Management of Records issued under section 46 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 with a particular focus on data quality.
* Support information asset owners in managing data and digital records, including storing, auditing and disposing of these records.
* Adhere to and enforce compliance with corporate policies in relation to digital record management and data quality.
* Support the development and delivery of digital training for officers and members.
* Adhere to and enforce compliance with corporate policies in relation to data protection, privacy and system security.
* Provide advice and support for the delivery of projects from a data management perspective.
* Plan, allocate and evaluate own work. Ensure work is organized to meet deadlines and service requirements/standards. Manage business users’ expectations.
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of data management best practice.

Essential
* Good literacy and numeracy and GCSE qualifications in both English and Maths at grade C / 4 or above (or equivalent qualifications at NVQ level 2, such as CSE grade 1 or T-levels or O-levels at A-C or an intermediate apprenticeship).
Desirable
* 2 A-levels (or equivalent qualifications at NVQ 3 level such as an advanced apprenticeship).
* Evidence of continuing personal development.
