Job summary
This post is for a Consultant with interest in minimal access surgery and endometriosis to join the existing team based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. The post holder will join the existing team of fifteen consultants based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. The main aim of this post is to support activity in, and further develop, the endometriosis service. A successful applicant will work across Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with some room to shape duties to their skills and areas of interest.
Guildford is recognised as one of the leading minimal access centres in the UK. We have an increasing demand for the laparoscopic procedures that we offer. We are recognised as a major international laparoscopic training centre for MAS in gynaecology and have close links with the University of Surrey Post Graduate Medical School. The hospital is a well-established Regional Cancer Centre providing comprehensive gynaecology and other cancer surgery.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join our team of consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, with a specific focus on minimal access surgery and endometriosis. They will take over leadership of the Endometriosis MDT, and develop relationships with urology and colorectal colleagues to further care in complex cases.
The post holder will participate in the on call rota which provides 72 hours consultant presence on Delivery suite. The on call consultant will conduct procedures, supervise and train junior doctors as well as conduct ward rounds to include reviewing midwifery-led cases on referral as appropriate. They will be also responsible for the care of antenatal and postnatal inpatients and for the smooth running of the Day Assessment Unit.

Essential
1. Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
2. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Obstetrics and Gynaecology
3. MRCOG (or equivalent)
4. Evidence of training, experience and independent practice in Obstetrics, General Gynaecology.
5. BSCCP Colposcopy Certification or equivalent
6. Evidence of training, experience and independent practice in Obstetrics, General Gynaecology.
Desirable
7. ATSM in Benign Gynaecological Surgery (Hysteroscopy)
8. ATSM in Vulval disease
9. ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice
10. Intermediate Gynaecology ultrasound module or equivalent
11. ATSM in Benign abdominal surgery: open and laparoscopic
12. ATSM in Advanced laparoscopic surgery for excision of benign disease
Experience
Essential
13. Evidence of broad training in both obstetrics and gynaecology
14. Evidence of running Colposcopy clinics independently
15. Evidence of experience in management of Labour Ward and ability to independently manage obstetric emergencies
16. Knowledge and understanding of CTG interpretation
17. Perform appropriate surgery for emergency gynaecology
18. Independently manage women with early pregnancy complications

19. Experience of multidisciplinary team working, esp with gynae-oncology
20. Experience of running vulval clinics and two week rule clinics
21. Outpatient Hysteroscopy (diagnostic and operative)
