Commercial Accountant
Location: Remote with regular travel to sites across the South West & Midlands cluster
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Commercial Accountant.

Join us as a Commercial Accountant and you’ll take responsibility for financial matters across the cluster and super cluster, providing analysis and financial advice to all levels of the organisation.
The Commercial Accountants are key senior leaders at Ramsay, working as the Finance Business Partner to the designated Operations Director, harnessing a deep knowledge of Ramsay’s business and the financial environment it is subject to, in order to drive improvements and leverage industry best practice and innovations.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Support the Finance function in the development and integration of processes, procedures, data and controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness of business outcome focused systems, data and processes.
* Deliver timely internal financial reports under applicable accounting standards.
* Liaise with the Group Financial Controller to ensure the required information is provided to enable the completion of external statutory, regulatory and tax reports.
* Oversee the outputs of key balance sheet functions such as accounts receivable, fixed assets and stock on a cluster or national basis. Liaison with the Group Financial Controller to ensure appropriate financial control.
* Ensure accuracy and usefulness of information that addresses all stakeholders’ reporting needs.
* Recommend improvements for Ramsay to evolve and meet future information requirements.
* Ensure appropriate cover for Finance Manager absence to ensure key deadlines are met, and actively support the Finance Manager recruitment, induction and succession planning process. Coordinate and manage the networking and development of Finance Managers in the cluster through team meetings and designated projects.
* Provide support and guidance to non-financial managers in the development of their financial acumen and commercial awareness.
* Coordinate and support business planning, budgeting and forecasting within the designated cluster by leveraging an understanding of internal drivers and external market insight, to set organisational goals and drive business outcomes aligned to best practice.
* Provide value add business partnering across all levels of the organisation, by leveraging a deep understanding of commercial, economic and regulatory drivers and the financial impact of these. Seek opportunities for performance improvement through a systematic review of benchmark data, key performance indicators, management information and the hospital management accounts.
* Develop and implement cost management activities and prepare analysis and reports that enable the business to challenge costs and inform decision making. Hold value adding cost discussions with internal stakeholders, and assess metrics, trends and analysis to optimise costs.
* Support Cluster Coordinators, Hospital Directors and Finance Managers where necessary with the relationship management with the ICBs in the event of challenge and audit; escalating matters as required.
* Provide meaningful and actionable insight into revenue, pricing and marketing, and develop tools and techniques for revenue analysis in order to inform decision making and support business performance.
Minimum Requirements:
* Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and a minimum of 5 years commercial healthcare experience at a senior level.
* Strong analytical skills to understand information and share with wider teams.
* Excellent understanding of finance systems and the integration with data and processes.
* High degree of accuracy in reporting and collection and use of data.
* Excellent communication skills for engagement with stakeholders.
* Experience having difficult conversations, negotiating a point of view, and providing constructive feedback to drive improvements.
* Strong commercial and financial skills, including transactional work.
* Strong IT skills in particular Excel, and familiarity with report writing tools and systems.
