University Hospitals Dorset have an exciting opportunity to be a Staff Nurse as part of a small team providing support for Interventional Radiology patients in a newly created day care unit based at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Main duties of the job
* To provide a high standard of quality care and patient experience without direct supervision across the IR day care unit.
* To practice autonomously (within the requirements of UHD and the NMC code of practice) and be responsible and accountable for safe, compassionate person-centred evidence-based nursing that respects and maintains dignity and human rights.
* Take charge of the unit in the absence of a more senior member of staff on a shift basis.
* To assist in the management and organisation of the IR Day Case Unit.
* Assist in developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the ongoing professional development of registered staff.
* To support the Trust strategy of delivering a quality healthcare service for patients and their families.
* To work within and to support the Trust objectives and the ward department philosophy and standards.

* To ensure that all procedures and treatments are carried out according to Trust policies, procedures, and protocols.
* Act as an effective role model by demonstrating effective organisational and leadership skills.
* Assess the needs and plan the care of patients, evaluating progress to ensure the care remains appropriate and facilitate colleagues in these processes.
* Understands and analyses patient clinical observations and records, taking or instigating appropriate action as necessary.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* NMC Registered Adult Nurse
* Post Registration course related to surgery or interventional radiology
* Basic IT skills and utilisation of electronic documentation and reporting systems.
* Obtaining and analysing clinical data to recognise the deteriorating patient.
* Medication and prescription management non-IV and IV medication and blood products.
* Calculation of drug doses for infusions requiring frequent concentration.
* ECG recording.
* EPMA.
* Familiar with Ecamis, EPR, ICE.
* Able to retrieve relevant investigation results.
Knowledge
* Demonstrates the fundamentals of nursing care, knowledge, and practice skills.
* NMC code of conduct.
* Awareness of patient experience, quality and safety agendas that support Governance Frameworks.
