The Employer Engagement Advisor/Trainer will contribute to quality service delivery and achievement of program goals, by preparing and helping participants find employment through job developing, coaching and training. The staff is also required to maintain an effective working relationship with employers and the general community, in accordance with the Mission and Policies of YWCA Toronto.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Co-ordinates the design, delivery and evaluation of the training courses and workshops for the programs and works collaboratively with other facilitators;
* Delivers personal and professional development workshops and training (such as life skills, essential skills, employability skills, job search, customer service, business skills, financial literacy, and leadership development) as part of a comprehensive training portfolio;
* Co-ordinates, plans, implements and evaluates marketing and outreach activities pertaining to employer engagement in consultation with the manager, employers and/or training partners;
* Participates in community and business networking events, community meetings, job fairs and other similar activities;
* Facilitates job opportunities, including volunteering, placements, job trials and direct hires into full-time or part-time work experiences;
* Negotiates work placement agreements and contracts of varying durations with participants and employers, identifying workplace training objectives, commitments and applicable financial incentives;
* Supports participants with job application preparation and for interviews, i.e. conducts mock interviews as needed;
* Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all required documentation and data for client management tracking and funder systems;
* Meets with participants and employers to assess suitability to programs, placement and training needs and makes appropriate referrals;
* Conducts routine and post-program follow-up with participants and employers;
* Administers, scores and interprets assessment tools designed to determine work readiness;
* Works with the Manager on special projects and any other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
* In-depth knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Adult Education, and/or Career Counselling;
* 3-5 years’ experience in related field;
* Group Facilitation and/or Life Skills Training required;
* Counselling approach that is flexible, de-escalates tension, teaches conflict resolution and is focused on success;
* Strong knowledge of employment programs, services and labour market trends;
* Ability to work within an anti-oppression, feminist framework;
* Ability to deliver culturally sensitive services in a multicultural environment;
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure;
* Ability to handle crisis situations effectively both in person and by telephone;
* Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
* Strong interview skills and experience and knowledge of career counseling theory and practice;
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
* Advanced knowledge of computer software e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, on-line course facilitation, databases, word processing; job search tools a must;
* Ability to maintain a positive approach and a professional manner at all times;
* Level B Testing an asset;
* Digital literacy and financial literacy skills are strong assets;
* Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred;
* Marketing and Communications is an asset;
* Access to a motor vehicle is an asset.
Note: Required to travel at least 25% of the time, as part of regular duties; a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle is considered an asset.
