Start living your future, today As an Apprentice Data Scientist, you’ll learn how to: collaborate with regulatory and operational teams to understand data requirements, set up processes, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights gather, clean, and preprocess large datasets to ensure accuracy/quality and consistency for analysis develop skills in statistical analysis and create insightful reports to support regulatory submissions and compliance tracking gain experience in building clear and informative dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI or Tableau to communicate findings effectively work with databases, to retrieve, manipulate, and manage structured and unstructured data use programming languages like Python or R to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and implement machine learning models for predictive analytics. A bit more about the role Your apprenticeship will last 48 months, and successful apprentices will achieve a Data Scientist (integrated degree), Level: 6 standard, endorsed by the Institute for Apprenticeships. You’ll play a vital role in enhancing regulatory data management by supporting the collection, analysis, and reporting of critical datasets that ensure compliance with industry standards. Your contributions will include creating data models, visualizations, and dashboards to provide actionable insights, analysing datasets and implementing robust quality assurance processes to maintain data integrity and accuracy. What we’re looking for: We’re looking for someone with a strong aptitude for mathematics and data analysis, a keen eye for detail, and an enthusiasm for problem-solving. Familiarity with tools like Excel, Python, R, or SQL or an interest in coding is advantageous, but a willingness to learn and collaborate is essential. Above all, we value curiosity, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to developing practical skills to enhance service to customers and stakeholders, and to meet regulatory obligations. You’ll need to have: 5 GCSEs or equivalent, grades A-C or grades 9-4, which must include Maths, English and a Science or Technology subject. If you’re from outside the area, accommodation will be provided by United Utilities during this period (excluding weekends).
