We are seeking a proactive and experienced Supply Chain Team Leader to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Procurement team, while also supporting broader Supply Chain activities including Planning and Stores.
This is a hands-on position, combining leadership with operational responsibility, including the direct management of key supplier accounts. The successful candidate will actively support procurement tasks during peak periods and play a key role in ensuring supplier performance and schedule adherence.
The Role:
So, what will you be doing as a Supply Chain Team Lead?
1. Lead and manage the daily operations of the procurement team to ensure timely and efficient supply of materials and services.
2. Maintain oversight of the orderbook, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business requirements.
3. Manage a portfolio of suppliers, handling the end-to-end procurement process and nurturing supplier relationships.
4. Monitor procurement KPIs, address performance issues, and implement corrective measures where necessary.
5. Serve as the primary escalation point for procurement-related issues, ensuring swift resolution.
6. Participate in production meetings to provide supply chain updates and align procurement with manufacturing plans.
7. Promote best practices in procurement operations and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
8. Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to the procurement team.
9. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and drive supply chain improvements.
10. Support the Supply Chain Manager with operational reporting and contribute to strategic initiatives.
11. Assist with administrative and procurement tasks as needed during periods of high workload.
What are we looking for in our next Supply Chain Team Lead?
1. CIPS qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
2. Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain roles, ideally with leadership responsibilities.
3. Strong knowledge of procurement operations, supplier performance management, and orderbook control.
4. Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
6. Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
Additional Requirements:
1. Occasional travel may be required to meet with suppliers and ensure delivery schedules are maintained.
