An opportunity has arisen for 3 Senior clinical fellow's ST3+ Locally Employed Doctors to work across the general medicine team at Fairfield General Hospital.
You will be an integral part of the Medical Team at the Fairfield General Hospital working alongside an experienced team of Consultants and junior medical staff, which includes registrar supervision on all medical wards.
The posts will be part of a consultant led multidisciplinary team with responsibility for the provision of services across General and Specialist Medicine
You will be within one specialty or rotating across specialties such as Respiratory, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Cardiology or Care of the elderly. The post will be predominantly inpatient based however there will be some opportunity for out-patient clinic work if interested. You will be expected to be interested in education and provide supervision and support of junior doctors. These posts include a 1 in 11 on-call commitment once you have been through a period of induction.
This is a Trust Doctor post ST3 + level or above equivalent position appointed for service commitments; it is not recognised for training by the Post Graduate Dean. You must keep yourself updated and work within your competencies and skill set. You must observe and adhere to all trust wide policies and procedures. You will be based within the General Medicine Directorates supporting our 6 general and speciality medicine wards including Respiratory offering specialist lung cancer, sleep, interstitial lung disease and palliative care training as well as wide experience of general respiratory including bronchoscopy and pleural procedures.
This post offers the opportunity to develop your clinical experience within a specific specialty, with the potential to rotate between specialties if desired. It will also allow you to develop your procedural skills and provide opportunities to gain experience in service development. teaching and quality improvement. You will be expected to take part in the assessment and management of acute patients admitted to the ward and you will take part in the daily assessment of patients, initiate management of these patients and perform procedures (under supervision as needed).There will be participation in the middle grade on call rota. You would be encouraged to be involved in clinical audit, quality improvement and research work during the post, thus facilitating professional portfolio development.
