About the role
We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Quality Engineer to join our team based at our Deeside office, UK.
In this role you are the custodian of our safety culture on our key manufacturing site at Deeside and drive the site continually towards interdependent safety culture, promoting a “zero harm” approach to safety.
You'll provide practical and hands on health and safety support and assistance to the Deeside site. Assist in the ongoing maintenance of our internal safety and environmental management systems to ISO45001 & ISO14001, and to support the wider SHEQ team in the UK
You'll also work independently and as a member of a wider team, and promote safe working practices at all times
Main responsibilities
In this role you'll:
1. Use active liaison and face to face interaction to ensure all teams and production processes adhere to SHE systems and continually drive our safety culture forwards
2. Be the custodian of our key leading indicators including our Safety Improvement Opportunity Scheme and our Safety Watch Observation Programme
3. Ensure all SHE & maintenance records are properly maintained in line with statutory and management system requirements
4. Assist in maintaining company SHE management systems in accordance with ISO14001 and ISO45001. Perform inspections and audits, and take a proactive stance in resolving highlighted issues
5. Assist in accident and near miss investigations, and help ensure that root causes are established and appropriate actions put in place to prevent recurrence
6. Assist in delivery of safety related training including new starter inductions, behavioural safety, and our in house refresher programme
7. Assist in contractor control activities including pre qualification, assessment of RAMS packs, completing contractor inductions, completion of permits to work and spot checks of contractor activities as required
Experience & qualifications
To be successful in this role you'll need:
8. A safety related qualification such as NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent
9. Experience in working in the manufacturing sector
10. To be competent in using the MS Office suite.
11. The ability to work on multiple tasks and work cross-functionally to identify issues and implement solutions and improvements
12. Practical experience of implementing SHE systems, performing risk assessments, producing safe systems of work etc
