A Vacancy at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.
This post is being advertised as a part time post of 32 Hrs and the Trust will consider all applications including those wanting to work flexibly.
• To provide primary care type services to 2 community hospitals one in Bridport and one in Weymouth (Westhaven).
Bridport has a 24-bed ward and Westhaven 33 bed ward. They are both rehabilitation wards dealing with patients from all ages who are stepped down from acute hospitals before their onward journeys home or to a nursing home. You will be complimenting a team of GPs, associate specialists and ANPs already in post, with the day-to-day management of patients with a variety of ongoing and common medical conditions.
The post holder would join the medical rota and may be expected to work at both sites, although priority would be given to ensuring that Westhaven was the main base.
• The doctor will provide medical care for the patients on the wards, in collaboration with the Responsible Clinician/Multi-Professional Advanced Clinician, Advanced Practitioner, and the ward nursing team.
• The post holder will support the supervision of the clinical work of the Advanced Practitioner and will develop a mutually supportive clinical relationship with the Advanced Practitioner in managing the patient’s clinical need.
• The postholder will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in the planning and provision of care, investigations, treatment, and discharge for patient.
• The postholder will provide timely clinical review of patients, participate in ward rounds, and keep up-to-date and accurate clinical record.
• The postholder will implement appropriate treatment plans for patients, in collaboration with the patient, and the multidisciplinary team, including relevant assessment of treatment escalation plans and resuscitation status where appropriate.
• The postholder will carry out the daily tasks as identified in the Medical Diary and in liaison with the nurse in charge of the ward.
• The postholder will work in liaison with the Responsible Clinician.
