Due to internal promotion, we now have an opening for an Engineering Group Leader to join our team!
This role is responsible for leading the Systems Integration team to meet agreed milestones and deliverables on time, on cost and on quality. The role is responsible for leading the landing gear systems integration activities (Requirements Management, Safety and Reliability, Performance and Dynamics) to develop, qualify and support landing gear systems throughout its life-cycle across all programmes, which includes R&T, new developments and in-service programmes.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
1. Lead and develop a team of Engineers to meet agreed programme project milestones and deliverables on time, to cost and quality.
2. Project Management, in terms of definition of scope in collaboration with Lead Engineers and Programme Chief Engineers Office (PCEO), planning, cost management, communication, reporting and problem solving.
3. Managing and supporting the personal and professional development of team members.
4. Oversee the team's activities to support delivery and development.
5. Manage team resourcing and performance, including hiring, on-boarding, outsourcing, performance management, wellbeing support and training and development.
6. Collaborate with functional managers to ensure adequate resourcing, skills and relevant tools are available to meet the strategic needs of the business.
7. Ensure the team are applying relevant procedures and processes relevant to the function.
8. Support the team to develop technical capability, improve ways of working and capture knowledge using the Knowledge Sharing Network.
Travel specifictity
This role is office based in Gloucester, with the opportunity for hybrid working.
Working Pattern: Full Time, 37 hours per week across Monday to Friday (Friday finish from 1pm).
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel required - UK and potentially Internationally.
Candidate skills & requirements
Qualified to a minimum of HND level in a relevant engineering or programme management discipline as well as possessing relevant experience.
A proactive individual who has experience of both leading a team and project management.
Ability to act as a mentor and coach to team members.
Strong communicator with multifunctional teams of suppliers and customers, able to build relationships to ensure success.
Project management and estimation experience is essential. Good knowledge of MS Project is an advantage, as is Planisware Enterprise.
Knowledge of the principles of mechanical engineering. Systems Engineering, Safety & Reliability and Performance & Dynamics are preferred.
Previous experience of landing gear structures and systems and understanding of their design principles would be advantageous.
DBS clearance will be required.
