This role involves budget planning, financial reporting, VAT management, and leading on the Council's annual financial processes.
Finance Manager - About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting General Fund and Housing Revenue Account (HRA) budget planning and monitoring.
2. Coordinating the Council's annual revenue budgets and financial reports.
3. Preparing and managing the final accounts and annual statements of accounts.
4. Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, codes of practice, and legislative requirements.
5. Developing effective relationships with auditors and implementing recommendations.
6. Advising stakeholders with financial reports, presentations, and briefings.
7. Managing VAT compliance and optimizing related costs.
8. Overseeing financial systems, implementing upgrades, and improving controls.
9. Leading on grants and project-related financial aspects.
10. Championing continuous service improvement and professional development of staff.
The successful Finance Manager will have:
1. Proven experience in financial management and reporting.
2. Strong knowledge of financial systems, VAT regulations, and accounting standards.
3. Leadership qualities with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
4. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
