Band 7 Clinical Lead - Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist
We are seeking an experienced clinician to work with the Speech & Language Therapy lead and wider MDT to review, plan, and co-ordinate SLT provision within the urgent care footprint. This is a new and exciting role to support patient flow through the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading change in the service and becoming an integral member of the urgent care teams. This will include opportunities to develop education and training for the wider MDT to ensure referrals into Speech and Language Therapy are both timely and appropriate.
You will lead the service for the acute in-patient team, including elements of staff management, service development, and being an integral part of the clinical team, as well as support with the coordination of SLT provision for the acute team on a day-to-day basis. We aim to focus on early assessment and intervention for communication and swallowing needs in the area, as well as follow patients who are admitted through to other acute wards, supporting staff as part of the wider caseload.
Main Duties of the Job
We have well-established teams in Acute, Stroke, Critical Care, and Head and Neck Cancer, as well as significant specialist clinical knowledge and clinics for Video fluoroscopy and FEES, with opportunities to develop in this area if desired. We also supervise and educate student SLTs to a graduate standard, working with the Universities to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.
