A vacancy has become available for a weekday HGV Driver within our Street Scene and Waste department.
Weekday hours, you will normally be required to work 37 hours Monday – Thursday, 9.25 hours per day. This will be worked subject to the needs of your department.
You will hold a clean driving license including HGV Category C Driving Licence, a Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), and a valid digital tachograph.
Previous experience of manual work, preferably in street cleansing, and knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation is required.
Duties will include keeping the city and local environment clean and tidy through the cleansing of public land, highways, and main roads.
This will primarily be working within the Street Cleansing Team, driving the 12.5t compaction vehicle and will cover operating a Large Mechanical Broom and small mechanical sweeper when required.
To deliver a quality service, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective waste collection and transportation operations contributing to a greener, cleaner city. Operating a range of vehicles up to HGV Class 1 and 2 waste vehicles, at times you will be asked to drive a 3.5 tonne vehicle. Maintaining compliant drivers Certificate of Professional Competence and digital Tachograph card. Responsible for the Operator (O) licence requirements including relevant driving regulations and working time rules. Responsibility for collection crew health, safety, and welfare where appropriate, productivity and quality of work. Responsibility for customer service and upholding the reputation of Plymouth City Council through the delivery of a frontline critical service.
Willingness to undertake occasional out of hours / night-time duties as and when required.
