The Role:
They are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the emotional and social development of pupils facing challenges in their learning and wellbeing.
The ELSA Teaching Assistant will work closely with class teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to deliver tailored support to individual pupils and small groups. The role involves providing emotional and social support, helping children build resilience, develop self-confidence, and manage their emotions effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small group support for children with emotional, social, and behavioural needs.
Implement tailored strategies and interventions to support children’s emotional and social development.
Work collaboratively with the SENCo and teaching staff to monitor pupil progress and adapt support where necessary.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all pupils.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies as required to ensure the best possible support for each child.
Support children in building emotional literacy, resilience, and self-regulation skills.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in the role.The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, dedicated, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing. The following qualifications and experience are desirable:
A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
Experience working with children in a primary school setting, preferably in an ELSA or similar role.
Knowledge and understanding of emotional literacy and mental health issues affecting children.
A positive, empathetic attitude with the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
