Kitchen Porter Location: Towcester, Northamptonshire Hours: Variable, including weekends and evenings – working 5 out of 7 days per week Salary: £23,800 per annum Must be able to use own transport due to location (no public transport links) Job Purpose To undertake essential kitchen duties and assist with the movement of stock around the site, ensuring a clean, hygienic, and efficient kitchen environment. Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to Health and Safety rules and regulations, maintaining a safe working environment at all times. Cleaning Responsibilities: Ensure all kitchen areas are free from debris and conform to Health and Safety regulations. This includes cleaning food preparation areas, equipment, crockery, and cutlery. Stock Management: Unload food and equipment deliveries, keep the storeroom organised, and assist with stock rotation. Work Surface Maintenance: Keep work surfaces, walls, and floors clean and sanitised at all times. Team Support: Collaborate with the kitchen team to maintain a clean and tidy workplace, complying with current Food Safety and Health & Safety laws. Hygiene Standards: Adhere to best practices for hygiene, health, and safety at all times to ensure full compliance with all relevant current legislation. Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: Health and Safety Awareness: An understanding of Health and Safety in kitchens, including how to avoid cross-contamination and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH). Role Understanding: Recognise the importance of the Kitchen Porter role and demonstrate an urgency to complete tasks on time. Basic Food Preparation: Some basic experience in food preparation is beneficial. Physical Stamina: This role can be physically demanding and may involve long hours, requiring good physical stamina. Customer Service: A desire to offer the highest standards in customer service. Training & Certification: Must have or be willing to complete a basic hygiene certificate within the first 6 months. Full training will be provided. Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
