Join us and contribute to making a positive impact on our community. The Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Transport Policy Officer to join our Strategic Transport Planning Team. The Team is responsible for the development and review of the council’s transport policies and strategies alongside formulating the action plans and programmes to ensure they are delivered. The team develops concepts and funding bids for new schemes and works at all levels including with senior officers and members as well as regional and national partners to enable these to come to fruition. The wider team also coordinates highways comments on planning applications. In this role, you will; Lead on the transport inputs to the council’s emerging Local Plan which includes overseeing work to assess transport impacts and develop mitigations. You will also lead on the development of new transport policies, steer our pipeline of new transport schemes and manage other transport policy officers to achieve key objectives. Key Responsibilities: Assess transport implications of our emerging Local Plan Commission transport modelling for appraisal of schemes and development Transport policy input to the assessment and master planning of major planning applications/sites Major Transport scheme funding bids Writing policies and developing action plans e.g. Local Transport Plan Leading the development of complex transport schemes and our 3 year programme Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
