A PA is required in Rawdon (LS19) Leeds to support a young boy to access social activities.
Seeking a suitable PA in Rawdon in Leeds who can drive and has own car; this is an essential requirement for this role.
4 hours per week during term time & 6 hours during the school holidays, mostly evenings with possible weekends, £12.40 an hour (gross) at all times.
I am seeking a PA for my 14-year-old son, who has autism, ADHD, and cognitive delay. My son needs assistance to access activities in the community and to access transport.
I require a person who can be both caring and provide reassurance when he is feeling anxious.
The person I employ will have an understanding of the need for confidentiality and total respect for our privacy.
My son’s personal assistant must supervise him at all times; this does not mean hands-on, but rather a stepped-back approach, acting almost as a supervisor. They need to be aware of his vulnerability and need to be kept safe. My son appears high functioning, so his disabilities can be overlooked, but he is good at social interactions and fits in well with peers.
Supervision:
He needs a hands-off approach, meaning most of the time you just need to be in the room to allow him to be independent and to build his confidence. He needs reminders of appropriate behaviour as he can test the rules and boundaries. He has a large and irrational fear of insects, so anything like butterflies near him will make him bolt. In such situations, he needs reassurance and guidance to a place where he feels safe. He is not physical in any way.
Support Tasks:
* Accompany my son on days out.
* Accompany my son to activities in the community and suggest activities that he would enjoy.
* Accompany my son to social activities.
* Be mindful of my son’s safety at all times.
* Always supervise my son, and do not allow him to be alone, even if this is at a distance.
* Use strategies to distract and encourage him when he is feeling less confident.
* Set clear boundaries and expectations of behaviour whilst he is with you.
* Encourage appropriate social interactions with peers and adults.
* Any other reasonable requests will be discussed first and then implemented where required.
If you are interested and would like to discuss further, please apply via UKCIL.
