The Role: ISP Engineering Manager
* As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee, lead, and develop a team of technical department managers across infrastructure, software, web, voice and data, each responsible for technical operations in their respective departments, ensuring that high-availability services run smoothly for thousands of customers.
* You will be responsible for aligning you team’s efforts with strategic goals and building a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
* You will drive impactful projects and manage project lifecycles from planning to delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution
* You will be a champion for process improvement, which will involve implementing best practices to streamline workflows, improve scalability, and enhance customer satisfaction across all technical operations.
* Your objective will be to shape the team’s future by playing an active role in hiring, training, and developing top technical talent, ensuring they have the skills and support to excel.
To Be Successful:
* You will need to be a proactive leader (either through experience or genuine desire) with a strong technical background. Your passion for people and your talent for project management should shine through.
* It will be essential to have an in-depth knowledge of software development, IT infrastructure, and high-availability technologies and departmental operations.
* It would be beneficial to have a DevOps and/or SysAdmin background.
* You should be familiar with SDLC and ITIL frameworks, as well as Agile/Lean methodologies.
* You will need to have knowledge of networking principles (particularly WAN and ISP infrastructure best practices) and High Availability technologies across web, databases and telecoms.
* You will need to have exceptional communication skills.
* Preferably, you will have a background working for an Internet Service Provider, within the telecoms industry, or in a similar environment.
The company uses the following technologies in each of its departments, so it would be beneficial to have at least some understanding of some or all of these technologies:
Linux, Virtualisation, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Kamailio, OpenSIPs, networking protocols (IPv4 / IPv6), software coding and web development (C/C++ / Python / Java / Laravel).
Location: Ideally, you will be based within commutable distance of Dorset with a mix of office and remote working. However, candidates with relevant ISP/telecoms experience and/or a good DevOps or SysAdmin background located in other locations of the UK who will require fully remote working will be considered.
(Please note that if remote working is required due to location, there will be a requirement to attend the office from time to time - at least once a month depending on circumstances and location.)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:30pm with some flexibility available.
