Bridge and Patrixbourne CEP School Before and After-School Club (BASC) is a new exciting provision for primary school children. The ideal candidate will work as part of the Bridge staff with children aged 4-11 years. We are currently recruiting support workers to work up to 22.5 hours a week (minimum 7.5 hours)
Working days would be Monday to Friday (term time only)
The working hours are:
1. 7.15am to 8.45am
2. 3.00pm to 6.00pm
Ideally, we would prefer applicants who could work everyday Monday to Friday however, there is some flexibility.
Whilst we welcome applications from any candidates, this role would particularly suit someone studying for a childcare/education qualification in sixth-form or university.
Essential Requirements:
3. Experienced in play work or childcare
4. Fun, passionate and enthusiastic for working with children
5. Knows how to create a fun and creative working environment for children
6. Able to interact well with both children and parents.
7. Excellent communication skills together with sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children
8. Ability to work on own initiative
Desirable Requirements:
9. Has a valid Paediatric First Aid/Food Hygiene qualification, or is willing to undertake qualification
10. At least 2 years’ experience of working in a childcare setting
Responsibilities and Duties
Main duties include:
11. Preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
12. Providing comprehensive care for the children
13. Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
14. Administering first aid when necessary.
15. Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
16. Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
17. Providing support to other staff, including volunteers.
18. Developing and maintaining good communication with all members of the club, with schools, and especially with parents.
19. Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
20. Monitoring and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment.
21. Working within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
