JOB PURPOSE
An exciting opportunity has opened for a skilled Electrical, controls & Instrument Technician to join our expanding engineering team here at Knowsley. Ideally the successful candidate should be located within 30 miles of Knowsley Merseyside, other locations in and around the NW will be considered for the right candidate. The Electrical Controls and Instrumentation (E,C&I) technician reporting to the Head of Engineering Services will be responsible for designing, developing, installing and commissioning control systems and instrumentation that is used to monitor and control the process at our customers and our own Flo Gas Operational depots throughout the UK including fault finding on sites across the country. Travel requirements around the UK are part of this role and candidates must be flexible to accommodate this.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Installation and service of a variety of systems including safety, security, energy delivery (hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical), communication and process control systems.
2. Fault rectification duties on complete electrical installations including measuring and indicating instruments to monitor process control variables associated with PLCs, also electrical which includes motors, valves lighting, gas detection systems.
3. Must be able to read and interpret line drawings, P&ID’s and FDS documents with relative attachments.
4. Monitoring of the operation of PLCs and associated equipment.
5. Providing out of hours support to our own infrastructure and External customer base.
6. Detailed review of drawings and documentation from Design and EPC Contractors to ensure that the new facilities are operable and maintainable, and comply with the contractual requirements.
7. Designing new control systems including development of Functional Design Specifications, control descriptions, etc. consistent with other design documents such as P&IDs, Cause & Effects, etc.
8. Attending HAZOP, LOPA & SIL assessment studies.
9. Developing new standards and drawings for C & I systems, panels and instrumentation as required.
10. Assist with commissioning of new facilities.
11. Working collaboratively with design engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers as required to deliver the new facilities.
12. Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities.
13. Developing and attending FAT and SAT procedures.
14. Liaising with Flogas IT department to ensure that the existing and new control systems comply with Flogas’ Cyber Security Management System.
JOB HOLDER REQUIREMENTS
1. Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments as part of a team or as an individual.
2. Hold a full UK drivers licence (No more than 6 points).
3. Have the ability to be flexible and travel when required, be prepared to work on average 3 weeks out of 4 per month away from home (but very little weekend working).
4. Electrical installation work.
5. Siemens TIA Portal knowledge.
6. SCADA and DCS Knowledge advantageous.
7. Time served EC&I apprentice.
8. Level 3 electrical maintenance (as a minimum).
9. Level 3 control and instrumentation (as a minimum).
10. Knowledge of process communications including MODBUS, Profi-bus and Profi-net.
11. Control lifecycle experience.
12. Working experience of instrument calibration, Inspection and Testing of a wide range of instrumentation: Pressure, level, flow, temperature (Analogue & Digital).
13. Document creation (Functional Design Specification (FDS), User Requirements Specification (URS)).
14. Process Safety knowledge/qualification.
15. 18th edition.
16. Compex (essential).
