Position: Healthcare Assistant Location: Cross Houses Salary: £85-£95 per day Hours: 8:30 – 16:00 We are currently seeking a Healthcare Assistant to support students in a nurturing and inclusive school that caters to children and young people with severe and complex needs, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our students with PMLD. You will work closely with the teaching and healthcare teams to provide learning support and tailored care, including personal hygiene, feeding, mobility assistance, and the administration of medication as required. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting students with personal care, including toileting, changing, and feeding. Supporting students with mobility needs, including the use of hoists and other equipment. Monitoring and attending to medical needs, such as tube feeding and medication administration. Collaborating with teachers and therapists to support learning and development goals. Providing emotional support and building positive relationships with students to foster a safe and happy learning environment. Ensuring that safeguarding and health and safety standards are maintained at all times. What We’re Looking For: We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals with a genuine interest in working with children with complex needs. Experience working with individuals with PMLD or in a healthcare setting is desirable, but we are happy to consider candidates with a strong willingness to learn. Essential skills and qualifications include: A caring and patient approach. Ability to work effectively in a team. Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures. Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic environment. Desirable but not essential: Previous experience in a similar role (SEND school, care setting, or healthcare). Knowledge or experience of working with children with PMLD or complex medical needs. Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care or Teaching Support.
