Role Overview
As an Electrical Construction Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role within the MEICA construction team. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and execute a comprehensive coordination strategy across multiple project phases. Leveraging your expertise in electrical engineering and installation, you will contribute to the development of a facility that is both operable and maintainable throughout its expected operational lifetime.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Contribution: Apply your knowledge in electrical disciplines to assist in all project delivery phases, including:
o Design phases (e.g., constructability reviews, HAZOPs, risk management, contracts, scheduling, and estimation)
o Works testing phases, including onsite testing (STW) and handover.
* Coordination: Oversee the installation of M&E scopes with the supply chain and civil/fit-out trades, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.
* Safety Leadership: Champion safety across nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental measures, ensuring an optimal balance of safety throughout project delivery.
* Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, as well as commissioning experts, to ensure seamless project progression.
* Documentation: Serve as a Technical Author, reviewing and revising pre-installation documentation. Maintain daily diaries and report progress to Construction Engineers and Managers.
* Inspection & Assurance: Ensure that inspection checklists are completed and signed off by all parties. Review subcontractor Risk Assessments & Method Statements to guarantee compliance.
* Oversight: Conduct oversight to ensure the supply chain adheres to site rules and scope-specific work packs, including ensuring safe systems of work are followed.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Qualifications:
o Recognised apprenticeship in Electrical discipline.
o HNC/ONC/Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (with ability to present certification).
o Valid CSCS-affiliated card aligned with the role.
* Skills & Experience:
o Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
o Proven experience in electrical installation and testing.
o Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and standards.
o Experience in conducting oversight of Safe Systems of Work.
* Mobility: Willingness to travel to various locations beyond Sellafield, including across the UK and occasionally overseas, as project demands dictate.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* HND/Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline (with ability to present certification).
* Experience within the nuclear sector, particularly in large-scale projects.
* Prior experience in setting up and working with new systems.
* Previous experience in roles such as Nominated/Authorised/Senior Authorised Person.
