We are looking to recruit a Tutor to join our team of dedicated staff at North East Essex Co-operative Academy, the secondary unit is based at Walnut Tree Way in Colchester.
The main purpose of a tutor is to ensure the effective learning of their student being taught. Tutors are also required to contribute to the wider success of the school. All tutors are allocated students to work with on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. The tutor is responsible for providing effective pastoral care to those they work with, in order to support their social and emotional progress as well as their learning. They are also required to contribute and be involved in extracurricular activities and the wider life of the school community. You will require a full driving licence to undertake this role, as there are some off site requirements.
We are an Alternative Provision School for pupils aged 5-16, most of whom have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school. We are very proud of the provision we offer, which is down to the great work our teachers and support staff do to re-engage young people with education. Students are taught in small groups enabling them to make good progress as teachers can ensure the learning is tailored to individual student needs.
This post will be paid at Unqualified Scale 1-6.

In line with recommended practice in the statutory guidance "Keeping Children Safe in Education", the school will conduct searches for information on shortlisted candidates which is publicly available on-line. The purpose is limited:

Information about the School
NEECA is a 5 – 16 school for 170 young people most of whom have found it difficult to be successful in a mainstream school. We are very proud of the provision we offer. Students are taught in small groups and they study the core curriculum at Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4. In addition to the core curriculum, we provide rich and varied extended curriculum opportunities ranging from music therapy, targeted literacy intervention, horse riding to vocational courses and work experience placements. Small classes benefit students and enable them to make good progress as staff can ensure that learning is tailored to individual student needs.
